Concerned boroughites united in solidarity for a pro-Israel rally at Temple Sholom of Flatbush.
The show of support for the beleaguered state drew a distinguished roster of area dignitaries, plus religious and lay leaders of local synagogues, to the house of worship, 2075 East 68th Street, where they shared their thoughts during an evening of talk and testimonials.
Congressman Anthony Weiner spoke about his recent trip to Israel. Joining him on the dais was Amir Oftek, consul of Public Affairs from the Israeli Consulate.
A medley of songs, performed by Hebrew school youngsters, and a benediction by Rabbi Alvin Shae Kane of Madison Jewish Center, concluded the rally.
The participating synagogues were: Temple Sholom of Flatbush, Madison Jewish Center, Kings Bay Y, Beth El of Manhattan Beach, Temple Beth Abraham and Congregation Beth Sholom.
